The Chardonnay is made from a vineyard that was planted in 1993 with unknown clonal material. It is a single 2 hectare parcel in the Cachapoal Andes planted on aluvial limestone and gravel based soils at over 3,200 ft above sea level.
The first three vintages of the Chardonnay ('07-'09) were aged entirely 100% new barrels. Francois Massoc was buying French wood and assembling it himself in Chile. With each subsequent vintage, the amount of new oak is decreasing as his barrels have gone through several vintages at Aristos.
The wine is fermented and aged in barrel for two years.
